Charles Lee Coppock, 80, went peacefully to be with the Lord on August 11, 2026, following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Charles was born on June 19, 1946, in Cisco, Texas, to Emmett Lee Coppock and Geneva Marlene Gardner. He attended high school in Bronte, Texas, where he was an Eagle Scout and excelled on the football field. He developed the determination and competitive spirit that would remain part of him throughout his life. A dedicated and accomplished student, Charles attended the University of Houston and the University of Texas earning degrees in pharmacy and Doctor of Dental Surgery. During college he met Frances Kent, and the two were married on October 7, 1967. Together, they made their home in Houston and raised their three children, Matthew, Cara, and BreeAnn. Charles practiced dentistry in Houston for 25 years, taking great pride in his profession and in the many people he had the opportunity to serve. Following Frances’s passing, Charles moved to Jacksonville, where he continued to practice dentistry for another 10 years and met Nancy. They were married in November of 2013 and shared many happy years together.
Charles found joy in education, the outdoors and in the simple pleasures of life. He loved reading, researching, golfing, fishing through the night, camping, and spending time on his boat. He appreciated a good pocketknife, enjoyed visits to the shooting range, and a fine pair of Lucchese boots. More than anything, Charles loved his family and treasured the time he spent with the people he loved.
Charles was preceded in death by his son, Matthew; his first wife, Frances; and his parents, Emmett and Geneva.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughters, Cara and BreeAnn; son-in-law, Derek; brother, Rodney; sister-in-law, Debbie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. His memory will live on in the stories shared and the love he gave so generously to those around him.
A graveside service will be held at Kerens Cemetery on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Polycystic Kidney Foundation.
